Flower FM 87.7

Flower FM started test transmissions on Tuesday 18th August in preparation for coverage of the Southport Flower Show which starts on Thursday 20th. This is an off shoot of Dune FM and relays Dune FM overnight.

2BR Burnley July 1998

It appears that the next '2BR' RSL [Burnley area] will be on VHF and not medium wave, Apparently (because of the forthcoming licence advertisement for the 'Burnley area') the start date has been brought forward. Expect '2BR' now in September *not* October - the date of Sept. 18th is a probable for the start of the [final ?] '2BR' 28 day RSL.

Here's the latest list of Restricted Service Licences from the Radio Authority - it occurs to me that many of these have already finished.

There's a couple of additions I've made which were not listed: Reading's Kids FM, which started today on 87.7 for the annual Reading Children's Festival, is on air during the half term week only (heard here in Tilehurst). Takes you back to the days of Radio Cracker - no, that's a little unfair, better give them a chance. They have a presence at the Caribbean Carnival at Prospect Park just outside the town today - a pint-sized interviewer was heard on-air asking another kid in the crowd who was the best, Kids FM or 2-Ten FM. You can guess the answer.

The other is for the drive-in movie at Weybridge. This is on air on Saturday 30 May only, to broadcast the stereo soundtrack for "Lady And The Tramp", which is showing at the Brooklands Airfield in Weybridge, Surrey. The event is being heavily promoted by Thames Radio, the local station in the area.
